A Little Bit About Me

Meet Jasper! This gentle giant is looking for a home to call his own. Despite spending most of his life on a chain, Jasper is well socialized with people, and friendly with everyone he meets. Due to his past, he is still working on fine-tuning his manners, but he knows his basic commands. Jasper can be both calm and energetic, especially in the morning when he is excited to go out on a walk. He does not quite know how to walk in a straight line on a leash, but he is a smart boy who will learn quickly. Once he gets his energy out for the morning, he saunters along and walks well. Due to his large size, Jasper will need a home that can handle a large dog who has tendencies to jump and mouth when excited. A home without small children is ideal. He would be ok going to a home with older, dog-savvy children. In the home, he has displayed great sleeping habits and comfortably sleeps in a crate. He is also great with housetraining.

Jasper has a prey drive and can become fixated on smaller animals. He will need an adopter who is physically capable of holding him back in instances where he begins to pull towards them, and needs a home without small animals or cats. Additionally, he likes to be the center of his families attention, so a home without other dogs is important. He can have friends outside of the home if they are able to put up with his excitable play-style. Jasper feeds off the energy of other dogs, so calm, friendly pups are important.

Jasper would love a backyard with regular access so he can get his energy out and play with his favourite toys - especially balls! This gorgeous boy is eagerly awaiting his second chance at life, and can't wait to show you how cuddly and affectionate big dogs can truly be.

Do you think you could be Jasper's person? Here are some ways to find out:

1. Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or

2. Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.
