Rose is a very special girl. She came to us as a stray that was in need of some serious help. She had no ID for us to trace and she was never claimed by anyone. She arrived in our care with a very bad skin condition, where she had scratched herself so raw in places that she is was terribly uncomfortable. We had Rose vetted right away to get her some relief from the intense itchiness she was suffering from. The vets realized right away that she had been suffering from allergies that weren't address for a long time, causing a major secondary skin infection. Since receiving medical attention, Rose's skin and coat have markedly improved, revealing her vibrant and playful personality. She delights in engaging with toys and enthusiastically participates in games of tug-of-war with our staff, albeit sometimes with a bit too much gusto, leading to occasional toy destruction. While Rose has encountered many dogs during her time with us and generally tolerates their presence, she may react defensively if approached aggressively. Her compatibility with cats remains unknown, but her inclination to chase may suggest a less-than-ideal match. To manage her allergies, Rose is currently on a hypoallergenic diet and requires ongoing medication prescribed by our veterinarians. Despite these needs, Rose's affectionate nature and lively spirit make her a cherished companion for the right family willing to provide her with the care and attention she deserves. If you are interested in Rose, contact our branch to find out more, or fill out the application below.https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-alberni/
