A Little Bit About Me

Despite his large size, Duke is a gentle big boy with a heart full of love. He adores human companionship and thrives on affection, often leaning into his humans for cuddles and belly rubs. Duke is happiest when he's curled up on the couch next to his favorite person. He has a calm and easygoing demeanor, making him a joy to be around.
Don't let his age fool you, besides enjoying long naps and cuddle sessions on the couch, Duke is an active pooch who loves daily walks and outdoor adventures. Whether it's exploring the neighborhood, hiking out on the trails, or splashing around at the beach, Duke is always up for an adventure. He's also very playful and loves his stuffed toys AND STICKS! The bigger the stick the better!
While Duke is generally friendly with other dogs and has lived in a multi pet home, proper introductions are key to ensuring positive interactions. With slow introductions, Duke has shown good manners and enjoys the company of canine friends.
Although Duke's interactions with cats haven't been formally tested in shelter, he reportedly has a lived with them previously and likes cats, but will require slow introductions to new felines in a home as he sometimes gets excited and likes to chase smaller animals. Squirrel!
As Duke enters his golden years, like many senior dogs he is showing arthritic changes and some stiffness. Like any senior animal he should have regular vet check ups to monitor his health and mobility needs. He may potentially require management with medication in the future and a home without a lot of stairs would probably be best since he's a big boy. Duke remains resilient and eager to live life to the fullest.
Duke's ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and plenty of snuggle sessions. He would thrive in a calm and stable environment where he can receive the attention and affection he craves. A family willing to provide him with regular exercise, mental stimulation, and proper medical care would be perfect for Duke. Additionally, a cozy bed where he can sleep beside his humans at night would make him truly content. This sweet senior is an absolute joy to have in your home! Dog savvy older children would likely be fine with Duke but really young kids who jump all over him isn't his cup of tea.
Overall, Duke is a remarkable dog with so much love to give. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion to share your life with, Duke may be the perfect match for you.
