This handsome boy is ready to shine in a home with someone dedicated to helping him grow into the very best version of himself.We absolutely adore Kota, and it's impossible not to fall for his goofy, playful personality. From his award winning "Awooowooo's" to his world famous dramatic belly flops in search of the perfect scratch spot, he keeps everyone laughing. He loves cuddles, playtime, and being close to his people, and would happily spend his days following you from room to room.Kota didn't have the easiest start in life. Having spent much of his early years outside, he missed out on many of the important experiences and life skills dogs typically learn when they're young. Despite this, he has embraced his new world with enthusiasm and is making great progress. What he needs now is a patient, confident owner who can provide structure, routine, guidance, and plenty of love. There may still be a journey ahead, but with positive reinforcement and someone committed to helping him succeed, Kota has all the makings of an incredible companion.Due to his past experiences, Kota can be selective about his canine friendships and has not been successful living with other dogs. He will need to be the only dog in the home so he can feel comfortable, secure, and truly thrive. While he is working hard on building positive associations with other dogs, he can be reactive and particular about who he chooses as friends. An experienced owner who can recognise his triggers, advocate for his needs, and continue his positive reinforcement training will set him up for success.As an Alaskan Malamute, Kota comes from a lineage of ancient sled-pulling and hunting dogs, and his prey drive reflects those instincts. Small animals, particularly cats, are simply a little too interesting for him, so he will need a cat-free home.Kota is a truly wonderful dog who just needs the right person to see his potential. His larger-than-life personality, endless affection, and hilarious antics make him an absolute joy to be around. For the right home, he will be a loyal, loving companion and bring years of laughter, adventure, and happiness.
