A Little Bit About Me

*PLEASE READ - BY APPOINTMENT ONLY*

Meet Lincoln!

Lincoln has had a tough start to life with a background of uncertainty and insecurity. Having lived in an outdoor pit of his own filth, he was not socialized with humans and therefore struggles with confidence and trust. Staff have been working patiently and tirelessly on developing his confidence around new people and experiences. Lincoln is still learning to trust people and is learning to accept pets, although he enjoys having human company, even if it is just sitting near him in the yard. Learning to seek out pets and walking on a leash is still something that will need work with patient and understanding adopters. Lincoln relies on his brother Louie to show him that he can trust humans. He became curious of humans and started interacting with staff after watching Louie open up. Ideally, Lincoln could go to a home with Louie or another confident and patient canine friend who can help him flourish. Lincoln can be vocal and jumpy when meeting new dogs and will need a slow and proper introduction to make sure things go smoothly. Although having a friend would be beneficial, he may also do well in a home as the sole dog, given his adopters are able to commit time to work on gaining his trust and building a bond. Due to his nervousness and shyness with new people, it is preferred for potential adopters to meet him at least twice in shelter and establish a good enough relationship before bringing him home. As he is still quite shy, a calm and quiet home with no young children is ideal.

Lincoln loves toys, especially squeaky toys, and can be very playful! He loves investigating new toys and tossing them around. He loves treats and can be vocal when demanding more. Each and every day he gets a little braver and his personality shines. He is a retriever after all and has that silly personality where everything should go in his mouth. Lincoln enjoys water and sometimes takes a dip in his outdoor pool. Since Lincoln has lived outdoors his whole life, he is still not quite used to living indoors. His new home would need to have a fully enclosed outdoor area for him to stay in while he adjusts to indoor life. 💚🐾

Do you think you could be Lincoln's person? Here's how to find out:

Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.
