A Little Bit About Me

Meet our VERY handsome resident Bear!

Bear is a young dog in search of an active furever home that will take him for all sorts of adventures! Bear can sometimes be a bit reserved with new people, but once he gets to know you and is trusting, he's a big ham who adores to be with his favorite people. He especially loves to play soccer and keep away with his favorite toys, and will bounce and bound with happiness while he plays. With that said, Bear will need to go to a home with a good amount of outdoor space access, to accommodate his oodles of big boy energy! He is also an excellent climber and is capable of scaling tall fences. He adores toys and puzzles to use his brain!

We know that Bear is afraid of confined spaces such as vehicles or kennels - so a home that is comfortable working to slowly get him comfortable with cars would be best, as well as a home that doesn't need to have him crated. A previous foster home put a lot of work into building his confidence around cars.

He does have a few specific asks for his future home:
-Bear would prefer an adult only home, he is jumpy and mouthy when excited and would not be a good fit for a home with kids.
-Bear needs to be the only pet in his forever home, he can be selective with dogs he likes and dogs he doesn't.
-Bear needs an experienced home that has had dogs before and can read his body language if he is uncomfortable.

PLEASE NOTE: This dog is located on the Sunshine Coast and travel via BC Ferries is required to adopt. Appointments are preferred to adopt one of our animals. Please speak with shelter staff prior to visiting our branch.

Please follow these steps if interested in adoption!
1. View the animal's profile at adopt.spca.bc.ca
2. Submit an application https://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-sunshine-coast/
3. If it's a match, staff will contact you to set up an appointment for a meet & greet.
4. Live happily fur-ever after!

*Side note: the more you add to your application (the last question) about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!
